Mastering IGCSE Economics
- Get your examination syllabus: Obtain a copy of your IGCSE Economics syllabus from cie.org.uk. Regularly check the site for syllabus updates to stay aligned with the latest requirements.
- Use endorsed reference books: Invest in Cambridge-endorsed reference books. My personal favorite is the Cambridge University Press endorsed book, which is comprehensive and covers everything you need for effective preparation.
- Study each topic thoroughly: Read every topic carefully, underlining key terms as you go. Research concepts online and find real-life examples to deepen your understanding. The better your grasp, the easier it will be to answer questions confidently.
- Master Paper 1 (Multiple Choice): Practice solving all 30 Multiple Choice Questions within the allotted time. Aim to finish with 10 minutes to spare for reviewing and correcting your answers. Achieving this speed and accuracy requires regular practice.
- Understand command words for Paper 2: Learn Cambridge’s list of command words, as these dictate how to structure your answers. Here is the official image of command words provided by Cambridge:
- Practice with past questions: Identify questions across the syllabus that use these command words and solve them. Immediately check your answers with the mark schemes to understand examiner expectations and refine your approach.
- Prepare for exams and mocks: Regular practice with questions and mark schemes will ensure you are well-prepared for final board exams, school internal assessments, and mock tests.
