Overview

Paper 2 / IGCSE Economics / 0455  is a written, externally assessed exam worth 80 marks and lasting 2 hours. It contributes 70 % of the final IGCSE Economics grade.
The paper tests understanding across the whole syllabus and focuses on structured and data-response style questions that measure knowledge, analytical skills, and evaluation.

Exam Format

• Section A – Compulsory Question (20 marks)
  One structured question divided into six parts (a–f). Candidates analyse unseen information or data about a real-world economic situation. Answers must refer to the source material provided and may include text, tables, or diagrams.
• Section B – Choice of 3 out of 4 Questions (3 × 20 marks)
  Each question has four parts (a–d) that progress from short to extended answers. Part (d) requires evaluation and balanced argument, often supported by relevant examples and diagrams.

Calculators are permitted in both sections.
