  • This subject does not teach every topic indepth. On the contrary it helps the learners to gain a basic understanding of the concepts.
  • Like pure sciences, namely, 0625 , 0972 (9-1) IGCSE Physics, 0620 and 0971 IGCSE Chemistry and 0610 and 0970IGCSE  Biology , this subject also has a choice between core and extended curriculum. Students may choose either to study the core curriculum or the extended curriculum.
  • The core curriculum papers are numberd as paper 1 [ multiple choice paper ]and paper 3 [ theory paper]
  • The extended curriculum papers are numbered as paper 2 [ multiple choice paper ] and paper 4 [ theory paper ].
  • Every student , irrespective of whether he/she is opting for the core or the extended has to then either opt for paper 5  [ practical paper] or paper 6 [ alternative to practical paper]. This is usually decided by the school in most cases.
  • The combined science curriculum  consists of   questions on Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  • So  the multiple choice paper has a total of 40 questions. There are around 13 questions on biology, followed by 13 questions on Chemistry and the  rest 14 questions on physics. So the paper is a blend of questions from all three sciences.
